They did it! Looking relieved and proud, Verena Bittenbinder and Sebastian Schünemann hold their freshly-obtained certificates up to the camera. From 5th to 9th November 2018, the two employees from Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg successfully completed their advanced training course “In-depth laser welding skills” at ics in the Laser Welding Hall in Baienfurt.
The training course was carried out by Fabian Gessler and other employees from our experienced laser welding team. Within the scope of their advanced training, the two Wolfsburg-based trainees were provided with valuable know-how and many practical tips and advice on the optimal application of their lasers, in order to assure maximum productivity in the production of VW vehicles.
The modular structure of the training course made it possible for the participants to expand their knowledge and skills in specific specialist areas of laser processing. This mainly concerned the achievement of faster processing with maximum precision, as well as insights into the materials used.
Volkswagen is one of the first automotive manufacturers to introduce laser welding into its Production. The first series laser welding application at VW was executed in 1995 on the current Passat model. Since 2000, Volkswagen AG has used laser-supported joining techniques in large-scale car body construction.
